Notes
First treated as synonym of Opius by Marshall (1891: Brit. Bracs, part IV), and also as synonym of Opius by Szepligeti (1904) and Gahan (1915). Fischer used the name as a genus in 3 papers published in 1970, but treated it as a synonym of Opius in his 1971 catalog. In his 1972 treatise, he formally recognized it as a genus. Wharton (1988) again treated it as a synonym of Opius after earlier (Wharton 1983) removing most of the species from it. It was subsequently recognized as a separate genus once again (van Achterberg 2005 European fauna website). Rank and synonymy therefore equivocal.
